Position Summary Information


Recruits and accepts international students. Develops, implements and manages the recruitment/admission program designed to attract the best possible pool of candidates in support of the school’s enrollment objectives.Processes related documentation and provides support services. Ensures university and student compliance with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.
1. Advises prospective international students and families regarding educational opportunities and options, admission criteria, policies and procedures, and financial assistance and requirements, as appropriate. Achieves aggressive recruitment and enrollment goals.
2. Plans, arranges and implements a personal recruitment schedule.
3. Acquires and maintains current knowledge of immigration laws as it relates to international students.
4. Evaluates international files and transcripts for admission eligibility; troubleshoots for problems.
5. Maintains communication via telephone or electronic correspondence with prospective students and related officials through all stages of the recruitment, admission and enrollment process.
6. Keeps accurate records of recruiting activities and contacts.
7. Assists with creating and distributing a range of resource and promotional materials designed for recruitment and retention of international students.
8. Professionally represents CBU in marketing and public relations activities at fairs, colleges, high schools, churches, and other events as appropriate.
9. Assists with the development and retention of international partnerships.
10. Duties may require travel for extended periods of time, including evenings, weekends and holidays in the USA and in foreign countries.
11. A valid driver’s license, a good driving record and reliable transportation is required.
12. A current USA passport is required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Other Knowledge Skills and Abilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
 Ability to travel nationally and internationally without fellow travelers in some instances.
 Ability to work as required by the department, which could include working evenings, weekends, CBU holidays and for extended periods of time.
 Ability to compose, edit and deliver professional presentations, both orally and in writing.
 Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
 Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.
 Ability to evaluate international student transcripts and records.
 A thorough knowledge of: Business English and arithmetic; general office methods, procedures and practices.
 Ability to plan, develop, and coordinate multiple projects.
 Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
 Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, student body, and external contacts.
 Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
 Ability to work independently and accomplish tasks under deadline stresses.
 Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
 Knowledge of standard budgeting and expenditure control procedures and documentation.
 Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
 Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
 Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
 Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
 Ability to manage and motivate a team of international recruiters.

Education and/or Experience

Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent ; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform standard conversions between currencies, measures of distance, weight, temperature, and time.
