Position Summary Information


The Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Technician will assist the Senior Aircraft Maintenance Technician required for a growing Part 61 collegiate aviation flight training program that is currently seeking Part 141 certification. Ensuring FAA compliance, this individual will assist in conducting all aircraft maintenance, maintain aircraft logs, scheduling maintenance, respond quickly to squawks, and will assist with all aircraft maintenance to ensure FAA compliance and minimal aircraft downtime. The Assistant Mechanic must be able to perform the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other duties may be assigned.
1. Perform all necessary aircraft inspections including, but not limited to: Annual; 100- hour; 50- hour; oil changes.
2. Maintaining aircraft maintenance records per Federal Aviation Regulations for each aircraft.
3. Ensuring all aircraft are airworthy for flight after inspections/repairs.
4. Handling all aircraft squawks in a timely manner.
5. Be reachable by CBU staff and or students should a maintenance need arise.
6. Fly to a specific location to assist a student or flight instructor should a maintenance need arise.
7. Maintain a supply of parts as needed for the aircraft.
8. Maintain A&P FAA currency requirements.
9. Make timely reports to Director of maintenance on aircraft status.
10. Have maintenance records readily available upon FAA request.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and A&P Mechanic Certification; and 1-2 years of experience with small general aviation aircraft.
